Walindi Resort is an intimate dive resort located on the shores of New Britain (an island off the northern coastline of mainland Papua New Guinea). The resort comprises of 12 traditional style bungalows surrounded by rain forest gardens with uninterrupted sea views. The central resort area is the social hub of Walindi and includes the tropical and airy reception and dining room, lounge and bar area, swimming pool, sundeck, boutique and a comprehensive library with plenty of fish books to help with species identification. Walindi Resort only caters to a small number of guests so you’ll receive the undivided attention of great staff, good company, great food and a relaxed atmosphere. All this provides the perfect backdrop while you enjoy the delights of Kimbe Bay diving.
The resort’s guest book reads like a who’s who in the world of sport diving and underwater photography, this region of Papua New Guinea boasts exceptional reef diving combined with superb opportunities for encounters with larger reef shark species such as grey reef and silvertips. The marine life in the Bay of New Britain is prolific with 413 species of hard corals and over 900 species of fish. There are few places on the world with diversity on this level. Huge gorgonian fans in pristine condition adorn the reef walls whilst schools off barracuda and horse eye jacks school in the surrounding blue waters. Aside from the rich reefs and marauding pelagics, critter lovers will not be disappointed. Walindi Resort has a house reef which offers photographers plenty of flexibility into the dive schedule with accomplished guides on hand to spot everything from pygmy seahorses to giant frogfish and magnificent octopus.
