Sangat Island Resort truly is a peace of paradise. Set on a long postcard-perfect white sandy beach, with coconut trees and dramatic cliffs in the background, this eco-conscious resort offers 15 native style accommodations, with verandas and magnificent views. The open air seaside restaurant and bar serves three buffet-style meals a day offering a variety of locally sourced fresh options. For the more peckish amongst us, the restaurant also has a snack menu to fill the gap between meal times. Main meals, tea and coffee are included in the room rate. The two bars offer great views and socialising opportunities, and are fully stocked with local and international beverage choices.
The dive center was built in 2008 and offers a full range of services from try-dives to courses to fun dives. Equipped with a Nitrox filling station, the center also offers technical diving courses, equipment and fills. Dive sites are close by and using the fleet of small purpose built speed boats makes for an enjoyable ride to and from the sites. For large groups of divers, Sangat Island Resort also has a large traditional banka boat (out-rigger). A new addition to the fleet is an opulent 12m long on-board motor liveaboard with two air conditioned cabins for exclusive and luxurious safaris.
Water temperature ranges between 28-30C and visibility varies from 7-30m. The 11 WWII wrecks lying in the vicinity offer awesome diving, many at recreational depths. Over the years the wrecks have become home to many species of marine life and sevral host large schools of fish and colonies of corals. While Sangat and Coron are most well known for their wrecks, the surrounding waters also host magnificent reefs teaming with life.
The island itself is lush and features not only magnificent beaches and dramatic limestone cliffs, but also a fruit and nut plantation, an evergreen mangrove and a natural geothermal spring. Sangat Island Marine Park and Sanctuary includes the waters around the island and the resort often hosts research groups.
