Beginning in the bustling city of Kuala Lumpur take some time to see the local hotspots including the twin towers and grande mosque, try some delicacies at the night market on Jalan Alor or soak up the atmosphere in China Town – all of which can easily be reached from your hotel. After a short flight to Sumatrathe following day you’ll be met by a guide and whisked off to the foot of the Gunung National Park, one of the most species rich rain-forests left in the world. Wild orangutans make for frequent sightings here along with the possibility of spotting other primates such as Thomas Leaf monkeys and macaques. Trekking in the forest is a must, expect stunning scenery in the shape of meandering rivers, verdant jungle and dramatic vistas throughout the region.
The final stage of this tour will take you north to the tip of Sumatra and the meeting point of the Indian Ocean and the Andaman Sea. The island of Pulau Weh plays host a number of pristine dive sites which feature marine life large and small, offering the best diving in Sumatra. The Canyon’s is peppered with beautiful sea fans and covered in colourful soft corals whilst the resorts house reef can be dived at your leisure during the day and early evening.
