Getting around the Philippines is easy; the bangka being the preferred method of travel throughout this string of over 7,000 islands – iconic outriggers that will ferry you between islands and white sand beaches.
Diving in the Visayas, a set of islands in the south central region, offers much scope for superb reefs, abundant macro life, schooling fish and topside highlights. The beaches are also idyllic and the locals friendly.
This 13 night itinerary will begin at Cebu from where you’ll travel east to the island of Bohol to dive the rich reefs of Cabilao Island and Panglao. Plunging reef walls play host to colourful fish life and above the surface these islands are just are picturesque. The Chocolate Hills is a World Heritage Site and for good reason- perfectly shaped hills line the landscape making for excellent photo opportunities.
From Bohol you’ll travel south to Siquijor Island, again peppered with stunning beaches and coconut groves. Cycling around the quiet roads is a must here- you’ll pass numerous villages and townships along the way, there are many excellent snorkeling opportunities and a laid back vibe to the island.
The final stage of this tour takes you to Negros Island and the superb diving which surrounds it; we think Apo Island is one of the best dive locations in the Philippines with it’s rugged topside terrain contrasted by spectacular reefs below the surface. Dive sites around the coasts of Negros play host to a wealth of invertebrates and decorated ‘critters’ such as mimic octopus, frogfish and ghost pipefish. Overall this itinerary offers the best diving in the Visayas.
