Located in its private corner of MoalBoal we think Magic Island Resort makes for the perfect tropical escape. Just a small number of traditional style cottages are set around the property, offering spectacular views out to the landscape of eastern Cebu and the Tenon Sea. There’s a pool to cool off in between dives and plenty of loungers for lazy afternoons book reading. In the evening you can head to the terrace for starlit drinks whilst on special occasions it becomes a superb setting for evening meals.
All in all the owners of Magic Island Resort have come up with something extremely well thought out – a small boutique resort set away from the hum drum of daily life, ideal for exploring the superb local diving on offer. Diving takes place from traditional style bangkas, iconic outrigger boats which scatter the coastlines of the country. Just 20 minutes away is the island of Pescador, it’s steep plunging walls are covered in healthy hard and soft corals and the waters are more often than not invitingly clear. Pescador has become famous for it’s large school of sardines which dart and move in different directions. It’s not uncommon to see turtles cruising among them or if you’re lucky larger predators. More wall and reef diving can be found throughout the coastal areas north and south of Moal Boal. The house reef, sitting directly in front of the Magic Island Resort can be dived as much as you like from dawn till dusk. Combining Magic Island Resort with another destination comes highly recommended, it’s easy to reach the white sand beaches of Malapascua for thresher sharks or alternatively head south to Dumaguete and the reefs of Apo Island.
