They say good things come in small packages and this certainly rings true of Komandoo Island Resort. At just 500m in length and 100m wide this is the ideal location to kick back and relax after a day of fine diving on the spectacular local reefs. Fringed by white sand and turquoise waters all the typical trimmings of a luxurious island escape comes as standard here – intimately designed cottages with large wooden terraces for soaking up rays, partly open air bathrooms and well thought out communal areas for passing the time of day.
Almost 50 dive sites are spread across the Lhaviyani Atoll, with new sites still being found. A typical day of diving will feature everything from colourful reefs to big fish sightings and rare invertebrates. Manta rays make for fairly common sightings, as do other types of rays and sharks. Turtles are also abundant, while at Kuredu Cave you have the unique chance to observe a green turtle community in action – extremely rare in the fact that turtles are normally solitary creatures, and there are very few sites like this across the world.
