Bali, possibly Indonesia's most well known islands, is a simply wonderful place to visit. Here exotic temples and palaces are set against lush green jungle, and warm blue water laps up on spectacular beaches, backed by towering volcanoes. The people are known for their friendliness; their everyday lives steeped in tradition and custom. With regular colourful processions in the streets, flowers and food are offered to the gods, and the sweet smell of incense permeates.
With some of Indonesia's best diving on offer, this island really does have everything- white sandy beaches, black volcanic slopes, stunning jungle, wonderful people, and rich and varied culture.
The tour will be led by photo-pro and much-loved tour leader Paul “Duxy” Duxfield, and start with ten nights at Scuba Seraya, a lovely sea side dive resort situated on the north eastern side of the island. This resort is the ideal location to explore some of Bali’s famous muck diving, the well-known USAT Liberty Wreck in Tulamben, fantastic nearby local reef dives as well as the sites around the island of Nusa Penida, where manta rays can often be seen. The last 3 nights will be spent at the glorious De Klumpu Resort, situated in central Bali, surrounded by rice paddies. This resort provides the perfect location from whence to explore some of Bali’s top-side wonders and experience some of the cultural riches of the island.

The first resort we enjoy is Scuba Seraya. Here we will be stay in lovely bungalows set in a beautifully manicured garden on the water’s edge, in a sleepy village on the north eastern shores of Bali.
The bungalows are spacious and all have semi-outdoor ensuite bathrooms, air-conditioning and private verandas. The resort has a wonderful open sided restaurant offering a huge variety of food, including Indonesian, Western, Italian etc. There is a pool with sun-loungers for relaxation. Ideally located for easy access to some of Bali's best diving, Scuba Seraya offers a relaxed atmosphere with friendly resort staff and experienced eagle-eyed dive guides.
After ten nights, we transfer to De Klumpu, a luxurious resort where the magnificent double story suites are built in traditional Balinese style, surrounded by lush rice paddies. Each of the 8 all-wooden houses (suites) have panoramic views of the paddies and surrounds, comfortable lounge suites and large beds, partially open air ensuite bathrooms, complete with comfy gowns and slippers, and locally produced toiletries. The resort has a central pool and restaurant, as well as a small spa offering a variety of treatments.
The house reef in front of Scuba Seraya is well known around Bali, and offers the best muck diving in Bali, some of the finest in Indonesia. A perfect place to practice photography, in calm warm waters, with an endless supply of fascinating subjects.
Some of the creatures we could reasonably expect to find in this area include frog fish, pipe fish sea horses, a huge variety of nudibranchs, many types of crabs and shrimps, several species of octopus and more.
Nearby is the well-known wreck of the USAT Liberty, which, after being torpedoed and beached in WWII, was later pushed into the shallows when a volcano erupted on Bali, and now sits in 6 – 35m of water. Having been underwater since 1963, the wreck is overgrown with soft corals, and is home to a huge variety of life. Early mornings see a school of bumphead parrot fish visiting the wreck, along with schools of surgeon fish. The macro life here is astounding, as is the brightly coloured reef growing on the metal. The other dive sites around Tulamben offer beautiful reef diving and varied marine life.
Nusa Penida, a nearby island (day trip) is well known for it’s manta population, as well as passing pelagics and schooling fish living on and around the fringing reef. Most dives here are drift dives and offer great chances of manta ray interactions, as well and silver-tip and grey reef sharks, as well as turtles and several tropical fishes.
