What can I say – AWESOME!!!!!
The Komodo Resort – fantastic place, lovely people, very helpful and an overall fantastic experience – the only thing that would stop me going back is the food – I didn’t go all the way to Indonesia to have Italian food every night! Ok there was Indonesian food at lunchtime but overall the food (both types) lacked quality and taste – very disappointing – also big heavy set menus in that sort of place & temperatures, I don’t think works – better to have a buffet style (only my opinion as an ex Hotel Manager!) – I had a good chat with them about the food (including Antonello the owner). As I said the resort was fantastic. Diving was simply awesome – apart from masses of mantas and turtles the things that stood out for me was seeing bluering octopus and the one thing that I wanted to see on going there, the Flamboyant Cuttlefish (one of the last creatures on my bucket list!) took the whole trip -which was incredible already to a mind-blowing experience!
Sanur SeaView hotel – its def not 5 star and pretty basic for some people but I really liked it -its just what I wanted – quiet and secluded (the taxi driver couldn’t even find it when I arrived!). It’s a little bit away from the main drag but still close enough to be a good base of operations. I would happily go there again and can recommend it as long as people don’t mind a slightly “tired” look – staff have limited understanding of English but I got by. Generally very helpful.
Luggage allowance on domestic flights – it is in your paperwork but not entirely clear – I didn’t realise till I was there at the checkin desk.
If you remember one of my “fears” on booking Komodo Resort was that it would be a “couples” dominated love fest! And that I would feel “out of place” as a single traveller, but there were more singles and groups of friends than honeymooner type couples – small point but you can reassure others that may have similar concerns!
Anyway – overall awesome trip and would like to go back again someday.
