For me this photo sums up the adventure that can be found from exploring the remote islands of Raja Ampat in far eastern Indonesia. The region is home to over 1500 islands, islets and shoals and surely some of the finest diving to be found anywhere in Indonesia if not the world. The light aircraft was donated to a person that discovered Raja Ampat before most – Max Ammer who first start diving and exploring here some 20 years ago. Conservation International supplied the aircraft to Max to allow him to cover the area and ensure that illegal fishing practices weren’t taking place, that is people not from there area sucking stocks out of the region. I’m nort entirely sure where Scotty Graham took this photo but I’m guessing somewhere in northern region and perhaps the Wayag Islands.
