Off the coastline of mainland Borneo lies Lankayan Island, a tiny jewel in the Sulu Sea. For families or couples looking for quality diving and a slice of barefoot relaxation we can’t think of a better location.
Unpopulated and covered by thick tropical island vegetation, this peaceful, untouched little piece of paradise is ringed by a pristine white sand beach. During the months of June and September Lankayan Island is a foraging ground for sea turtles, if you’re lucky you’ll get to see them make their way up the beach to nest.
With just 23 wooden beachside chalets there’s never a busy moment on Lankayan. A typical day is spent exploring the reefs of local dive sites, kicking back in the hammock with a good book or walking the beach whilst the water laps against your feet – bliss!
