There are so many enormous green sea turtles to be found on the reefs around Sipadan Island that after a few days diving you could be forgiven for giving them the cold shoulder. Throw in enormous schools of barracuda, black and white tip sharks and beautiful coral formations and it’s no wonder that Jacques Cousteau described this place as an untouched piece of art.
The team at Dive Safari Asia have been returning to Sipadan since the late 1990’s and it continues to be one of our choice destinations in Asia. Kapalai Island Resort is a water village, wooden bungalows built over a sand bar making the ideal location to dive the many reefs found in this area. It’s even possible to get to some of them by swimming from the dive centre pier.
A typical stay combines superb diving with easy relaxation – head to the private white sand beach to soak up the sunshine between dives or simply enjoy the view from your balcony, cool off by walking the pathways raised above the water or take a dip in the sea with a mask and snorkel. Kapalai makes an ideal getaway for families and couples.
