Set foot on Malapascua and the island vibe is quick to take over. Fringed by white sand and without the busy trappings of western life this makes for the ideal location to enjoy some superb local diving, the highlight being encounters with the mystical Thresher Shark. There are few places on earth where it’s possible to get close to this elusive being yet on Malapascua this is almost a daily occurrence. Other possibilities include manta, white and black tips and devil rays – it just seems the conditions are right here.
Aside from big fish encounters the surrounding reefs are rich in diversity, coral life is good and for the photographers or macro life enthusiast plenty of weird and wonderful creatures to keep your interest.

The resort itself is charmingly constructed to fit with its surroundings. There are just 29 rooms and the restaurant serves up a range of local and international treats throughout the day. In the unlikely event that the island’s laid back living is not enough there’s a spa and massage to pull out those knots and aches you collected from the west!

Sorido Bay offers something traditionally Papuan with a luxurious twist. Large spacious rooms feature local artefacts whilst the veranda steps out to a white sand beach and the clear waters of the Dampier Strait. The diving in this area is by all accounts top notch. In our opinion there’s little need for a liveaboard when [...]

Welcome to the Wakatobi Dive Resort experience. Though the location is remote, getting there is taken care of [...]
