From the plunging walls of Bunaken Island and the bizarre sand slopes of the Lembeh Strait to the richest reefs of Raja Ampat, our ‘Best of Indonesia’ safari encompasses a tantalising range and wealth of dive sites. Expect marine life in abundance at the world’s biodiversity hotspot, pristine reefs, giant manta rays, rare and exquisite critters and big fish all feature across an itinerary that covers the scope of Indonesia’s finest diving.
We begin the safari from the north coast of Sulawesi – diving the spectacular Bunaken Marine Park. Coral life explodes off the dramatic walls of the island that plunge to staggering depths. Colourful reef fish of all shapes and sizes dart around in the clear waters whilst giant green Turtles are regularly seen nesting in the reef or cruising in the shallows. Eagle rays make for common sightings above the reef crest, whilst hunting predators can be seen out in the blue. We combine our wall diving in Sulawesi with diving on the black sand slopes of the Lembeh Strait.

Located off the north eastern tip of north Sulawesi , the Lembeh Strait offers a truly unique diving environment and is often described as ‘diving’s’ strangest mile’. Here evolution has run wild creating a range and diversity of oddly shaped marine life – each one as different from one as the next.
The final stage of the tour sees us travelling to far east Indonesia, boarding New Guinea is Raja Ampat. Widely regarded as the world’s centre for biodiversity, scientists now regard the Raja Ampat to be home of more species of marine life than anywhere else on earth.
Just a 20 minute boat ride from our resort is Manta Point, a cleaning station which regularly hosts up to 4 or 5 giant manta at a time. The reef dives are simply breathtaking with staggering numbers of jacks, barracuda, batfish and trevally back dropped by genuinely pristine hard and soft corals. Tasselled wobbegong sharks, walking sharks (Epaulette) and black and white tips make for regular sightings. Mangrove passages, overhangs, shoals and platform reefs are typical topographical locations. Above the surface uninhabited islands scatter the skyline drenched in pristine jungle.
