During our Sumatra dive safaris we like to spend some time in the jungle, venturing so far across the world it would be a shame to miss such an opportunity. After 7 days of diving the reefs of Pulau Weh we head south to the Gunung Leuser National Park. This is a Unesco World Heritage site that is one of the last places in the world to play host to Rhinos, Tigers, Elephants and around 7000 Orangutans. This fully grown adult male was seen on tour last year and provided lots of entertainment. The national park is in desperate need of protection, illegal logging still exists as does further encroachment into the park for financial rewards. For more details about fund raising to protect both orangutans and their habitat see the Sumatra Orangutan Society website – they are a very active and progressive charity. We are running 3 Sumatra dive safaris next year on the following dates:
13th April – 27th April / 8th June – 22nd June / 7th September – 21st September
Price: 1,350.00 includes 13 nights accommodation, 16 dives, full board, all internal flights and connections, orangutan feeding platform experience and Dive Safari Asia guide. International flights – £450 – £700 rtn
