This is one of Indonesia’s newest dive resorts and it’s quickly catching the attention of divers who like to step off the beaten path, located in the heart of the Komodo National Park it offers some of the finest diving to be found anywhere in Indonesia on it’s doorstep. There’s just a handful of thoughtfully designed bungalows spread out along a powder white sand beach on the island of Sebayur, the owners wanted them to blend into the scenery as much as possible and we think they’ve done a pretty good job. The simple and traditional feel about the place really takes it into the realm of a dive camp but with some added luxuries thrown in, all the rooms have attached ensuite, veranda’s with comfy seating and tastefully designed interiors. The sunsets in Komodo are nothing short of spectacular and the barefoot nature of Komodo Resort really makes evenings special, stargazing without light pollution is the perfect way to end the day!
So what about the diving? Komodo is found in the heart of the coral triangle, a chain of islands spread east from Bali called the East Nusa Tenggara province, part of which you’ll find Komodo National Park. Deep ocean channels funnel the currents between the islands bringing nutrient rich waters, much the reason why the coral life is so rich and healthy in this area. Passing pelagics like manta’s, sunfish and reef sharks are also more common in these waters than found in other parts of Indonesia. What’s more is that you’ve got plenty of excellent black sand muck dives which are home to an abundance of critters, all this scope of dive sites can be found within easy range of Komodo Resort.
Aside from superb diving and wonderful accommodation Komodo Resort also offers a range of land based activities from encounters with the legendary dragons that inhabit neighboring islands to trekking and exploring pristine beaches.
