In our opinion Komodo is one of South East Asia’s finest dive destinations, we like it for its rich and vibrant reefs, the possibility of close encounters with larger marine life and epic topside scenery. Off the back of many years of experience of diving in this part of the world we’ve carefully selected a number of partners who serve the region.
Expect to be dazzled by spectacular reefs. Komodo is located in the heart of the coral triangle so plays host to a staggering range of marine life. In terms of topography soft coral gardens, walls, sloping fringe reefs and black sandy bays means that every dive feels like something different. Dive sites such as Manta Alley offer great chances of encounters with large manta, sometimes up to three or four at a time whilst Castle Rock sees big fish aplenty with large schooling jacks and barracuda as regular residents.
Topside there is the chance to set foot on land to see the legendary Komodo Dragons and when the sun sets over Komodo the scenery takes on a myriad of colour, creating a magical end to what is usually a fabulous day of diving.
One of the few steel hull liveaboards to cruise eastern Indonesia is the Black Manta.
